Recent events in our nation remind me that some people are fine with tyranny because they think they have the tyrant’s favor, even out here in Shenandoah Valley flyover country. But don’t count on it. The only defense against tyranny is liberty, and the tyrant who oppresses your enemy today can turn on you tomorrow.
The founders of our nation understood that. Will we?

this rumor says the olive garden is coming to the intersection of 280 and u.s. 33. that is where the new road that goes past the hospital runs in to 33. the road is almost done. the olive garden may never be.
There will be a concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College, presented by the Women’s Fellowship Choir from Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria). The Nigerian group’s visit is being coordinated by the Shenandoah District of the Church of the Brethren.

Your webmaster is told that the menu at Jalapeno Southwest Grill is Southwestern U.S., not Mexican — and therefore the menu will not overlap El Charro all that much (Jalapeno is coming soon to Generations Park, Bridgewater.) So — local foodies, what’s the difference between Southwestern U.S. and Mexican?
What’s with all the digging at Bridgewater not-quite-Exxon-any-more? Are they just taking out the gas tanks or are new tanks going in?
