Nature foils snow contest

December 22, 2008

For the second time in three years, a lack of snow before Christmas has foiled our attempt to deliver a wreath to the person who most accurately predicted the date of our first one-inch snow. The wreath was awarded by a random drawing to Bridgewater Buzz regular tink.

If you think you have a special insight on when we will get some snow, by all means post at Bridgewater Buzz — no prize this time, but opinions are always welcome. Meanwhile, stay warm.

Snow contest returns!

November 10, 2008

Loyal web friends, we’re having the snow contest again, thanks to the generosity of Ford’s Wintergreens. Ford’s will be providing a fresh holiday wreath for the winner of the First Snowfall Prediction Contest. Here are the rules from the elusive “treeman”:

  • Each participant can choose a single date. The date that you select must beĀ  December 20 or earlier.
  • The person coming closest to the date wins. Once your date passes, you are out of the contest.
  • You must predict your date at least 5 days in advance of the snowfall.
  • The snow fall must be at least 1 inch in Bridgewater… just a skiff don’t count.

To enter your prediction, just “leave a reply” over at Bridgewater Buzz. You don’t have to have a username to enter. Just enter a comment using “guest@bridgewaterva.com” as your email. Be sure, though, to label your prediction with a screen name (no real names, please). Good luck, all, and may all your Christmases be white!

Gas below $3 mark in Bridgewater

October 15, 2008

Folks, just because it’s so quaint I’m going to leave the text of this post just as I wrote it on October 15, 2008. At that time, gas falling below $3 was considered a great thing!

Following national and state trends, the price of gasoline in Bridgewater is again below $3 per gallon. Quarles and Bridgewater Exxon both began posting prices below $3 on the weekend of October 11-12. Area gas prices are continuously updated at the lower right of this page, courtesy of gasbuddy.com. If anyone would like to volunteer at gasbuddy.com to report in on Quarles and Bridgewater Exxon prices, those prices too will show up along with the Harrisonburg prices.

TV3 Alumni Page

When air personalities leave TV3, especially for an upmarket station, local fans often don't hear about it. At the TV3 Alumni Page, you can find out where people have gone.

Free antenna survey

Go to www.tvfool.com and put in your address. You'll get a list of TV stations you can get free, over the air. Special note: This list is conservative and shows what you can get with rather small outdoor antennas. With a large outdoor antenna such as the ChannelMaster 4248, you may be able to get all the Richmond stations, as noted here.
