United Way’s September 9 tour will make a stop at our own Bridgewater Foods Supermarket. Here are details from a United Way release:
United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County will launch the 2014 Community Impact Campaign on Sept. 9, from 9:45-4:00 p.m. at seven different locations throughout Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
The event, which is expected to draw representatives from United Way’s 33 local nonprofit agencies, more than 150 business partners, and the general public, will feature the first public announcement of the 2014 campaign goal and introduction of campaign co-chairs.
The tour will begin at Eastern Mennonite University at the conclusion of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce BOLD program, and then travel in a campaign-themed bus to Broadway, Harrisonburg, Elkton and Bridgewater before concluding in Harrisonburg. The schedule is as follows:
- 9:45-10:15 – Eastern Mennonite University – University Commons
- 10:30-11:00 – Plains Area Daycare, Broadway
- 11:30-12:00 – Ice House, West Bruce Street
- 12:15-12:45 – Target
- 1:30-2:00 – Elkton Area United Services – Client Services Building
- 2:30-3:00 – Bridgewater Foods
- 3:30-4:00 – WHSV Studios
The tour is part of a new initiative to reach out to neighbors, volunteers, students, leaders, donors, employers, clients and anyone with a stake in the future of our area with one simple question: What do you dream for our community? Participants will have the opportunity to share their dreams for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County and learn about United Way’s new community impact goals in the areas of education, income and health.
Tracey Jones, vice president and general manager at WHSV TV and Jonah Pence, commercial relationship manager and associate vice president at Farmers & Merchants Bank will be introduced as the 2014 campaign co-chairs.
